Agnieszka Sandomierz

Agnieszka Sandomierz (b. 1978) is a painter associated with Warsaw. In 1998-2003 she studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (painting under Professor Jarosław Modzelewski, drawing under Professor Tomasz Żołnierkiewicz), receiving her diploma with distinction in the studio of Professor Wiesław Szamborski, with an annex in mural painting. She co-runs the „No Entry” studio in the Praga district of Warsaw.

The starting point of Sandomierz's painting, as with several artists of her generation, is the „new pop-art”, visible in the matter-of-factness and ordinariness of the motifs she takes up. Her paintings, however, transcend the boundaries of impersonal pop-art: working often in gouache, she makes the female figure her main subject, shown in a sensual, intimate and everyday way.

Sandomierz belongs to the generation that entered the market with the wave of young-art auctions after 2008. Her works entered the first museum collection of the newest Polish art in the country, the Basil Alkazzi collection at the National Museum in Gdańsk (alongside, among others, Julia Curyło and the group The Krasnals), and numerous private collections. The artist is represented by the Galeria Art in Warsaw.
