The exhibition ‘With Deepest Sympathy’ is an act of intercession and accusation, formulated in the visual language and social activism of Igor Dobrowolski. Intercession – for whom, and accusation – against whom? Art can no longer remain silent. The images speak of what the perpetrators would like to hide; they are dangerous to them. Especially when they stimulate solidarity and become evidence. Today, discourse on evil is unfashionable, it goes beyond the cognitive optimism of contemporary human experiences and does not fit in with the interests of contemporary societies, even though it is confirmed by reality. Our condolences, is that all we can muster? Igor Dobrowolski – painter, sculptor and activist – with the exhibition ‘With Deepest Symphony’, which will run until 16 November in two Warsaw venues, Wallspace Gallery and Cliché Gallery.
