Piotr Szczur

Piotr Szczur (b. 1987 in Jasło) is a painter of the young generation. He completed the Tadeusz Brzozowski Secondary School of Fine Arts in Krosno, and then studied at the Jan Grodek State Vocational Academy in Sanok (diploma in painting in the studio of Professor Stanisław Białogłowicz, 2010) and at the Faculty of Art of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin (diploma in the studio of Dr Mariusz Drzewiński, 2013). He currently lives and works in Kraków; he is strongly connected with the milieu of Sanok painters and the neo-Romantic current, whose painterly tradition strongly influenced his development.

In his oil painting Szczur focuses on discovering the connections between space, architecture and everyday objects, exploring form, space and colour. His landscapes and frames - from urban and rural settings to his later series of American „roadscapes” (#PAINTINGSAMERICA) - are kept in an atmospheric, dreamy aura. The artist's works are in private collections in Poland and abroad, and appear regularly at young-art auctions.
