In 1977 the artist left Poland to finally settle in Germany, where he ran the Contemporary Painting Agency „Advance”, through which he collaborated, for example, on the organisation of „Documenta 7” in Kassel. In the 1980s Andrzej Nowacki met Henryk Stażewski, with whom he maintained lively contacts over the following years. This relationship proved to have a significant influence on his work. Andrzej Nowacki's first spatial compositions were made in 1988, and their numerical titles are the exact dates the reliefs were created. In 2001 Andrzej Nowacki received the prestigious Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant in New York. PROVENANCE: - private collection, Poland
