"By integrating his interest in the mechanisms of perception (what and how we see) with a philosophical perspective (how concepts are structured), he addressed universal concerns. His specialty was total RE-FORM-ATION involving breaking conventions of artistic disciplines, method, and forms, and reconfiguring them in time and space defined in new and diverse ways" writes Dorota Folga-Januszewska in the text to the exhibition catalogue. Agnieszka Tes, on the other hand, points out that "Both in his works and the theoretical foundations that revealed his way of thinking about art, Berdyszak was reaching the sources, to philosophy and religion, the culture and heritage of Western Middle Ages, Classical Antiquity, and the East. The presence of emptiness, effected by cutting through, opening or hollowing out a form, splitting or arranging compositional elements, autonomously generates a kind of void extending beyond the form, but nevertheless connected to it and defined by it. On the one hand, emptiness enables unlimited interpretations, and on the other – quite contrary: one could say that, in terms of modern psychology and Eastern spirituality, it annihilates all mental projections. For the artist, it became a very potent, “surgical” instrument he used to “provoke” diverse experiences and senses".
