Opis wystawy

Hubert Dolinkiewicz (born 1998) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 2023. He completed his diploma in painting in the studio of Professor Stanisław Baj, an annex in wall painting under Dr Sylwester Piędziejewski, and an annex in sculpture under Professor Jan Mioduszewski. In his work, he searches for forms for the spiritual sphere. In his creative practice, he refers to the broadly understood tradition of sacred art, surrealism and abstractionism of the second half of the 20th century. Among his inspirations, one can also find Japanese woodcuts and Far Eastern calligraphy. An important role in Dolinkiewicz's work is played by the sign, from which the painter creates asemic writing, and nature captured in the form of a peculiar landscape. Thanks to these elements, the artist creates two main cycles of works: ‘Songs’, whose substrate is wood, and ‘Metaphysical Landscape’, created mainly on canvas and paper. The sources of these landscapes can be traced back to the paintings of Giorgio de Chirico, Yves Tanguy, and Polish avant-garde classics Jan Tarasin and Zbigniew Makowski. Since 2024, the artist has also been creating sculptures/spatial forms made of wood, which are an extension of the ‘Metaphysical Landscapes’ painting series.
